Restricted rights for Local Admin account?
I inherited an SBS2008 server where the user accounts had apparently been migrated from server 2003. I mention this because I think it plays in here somehow. Fast forward to today when I am provisioning a new PC for one of the migrated users. I added her to the new PC (domain-joined) as a local admin (put her domain user account into the local admins group). I logged on as her and her Start Menu is blank - the left side where accessories, all programs etc are is totally blank) and what does show under Start looks like her account is somehow restricted (no Computer, Control Panel, etc. ). What am I missing? It's only happening for this one user. Cheers John

John, I think there is a corruption or no access to the user his profile. Can you look in the windows event viewer if there are some events who confirm this? Also if you open a command prompt and type the command SET USERPROFILE. What does it return? Kind Regards DFT IM me - TWiTTer: @DFTER

Hi, From your description, we can find the problem may caused by the user profile. Please try the command SET USERPROFILE. Also you may take the following steps to rebuild the uer profile: 1. Log off the current user, and login with the administrator. 2. Do action according the following: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/156826 (you may use the Windows Easy Transfer to back up the data first.) 3. Login with this user, check the problem again.
