Restoring files from imagebackup made with win7 build.7000
I had on my computer Windows 7 build.7000 version and I wanted to upgrade my cpu to windows 7 RC1 build.7100. Before upgrading I made a full imagebackup of my system HD withbuild.7000 windows 7 backup program. I saved it into usb-HD and backup program said "bacup was succesfull".Now I have installed the RC1 build.7100, but I cannot restore any files from the backup Imade with build.7000. The backup-restore program doesn't even detect the image from the extenal usb-HD.Do I have to install the build.7000 back into my computer in oder to get some user files and save them into like usb-flashdrive? Or should thebackup-restore program on RC build.7100 be able to restore files from that backup?

Now I have installed the windows 7 build 7000 again, but the restore program cannot fid it from my usb-HD. I can find the image by browsing network location, but it cannot find any system backups.I also tried to open the image during windows setup, but it gave some access errors. So is the imagebackup corrput or Am I doing something wrong?

Hello Tarhanen,When you begin to restore the backup does the drive itself not show up or just the MIG file?

Hello Tarhanen, When you begin to restore the backup does the drive itself not show up or just the MIG file? The restore program doesn't find the backup file, but if I share the backup image in the homenetwork I then browse the network and find the backup file. And if I try to opene it, it says that file doesn't contain backup information. But perhaps I tried to open it the wrong way, because I was able to open the backupimage in diskmanagement with vhd. That way I can browse the backup and get the files I need. But on otherhand during windows installation the system recover tool didn't open the backup so that I could have installed the old installation wiht all the applications I had installed.
