Restarts Before Finishes Booting
I have Windows 7 (Build 7000) and when I turn on my computer, after it gets through the "Starting Windows" screen, it will restart in about 50 seconds if I don't login to a profile. It wasn't a really big deal, I just had to login once it got to the login screen. But I just downloaded an update, it asked me to restart, and it has to configure the update when turned back on. The only problem is that it takes longer than 50 seconds to do so. So it keeps restarting and won't alow me to do anything during the process, except forcing to turn it off. I've run the Startup Repair, but it says that it cannot fix the problem automatically. I've also looked through the Setup menu and the Boot Menuupon turning it on. So, yeah, I need some help.

OK.. So let me see if I have this straight. If you don't log in at the log in prompt in under a minute, the machine automatically reboots itself. But if you manage to log in, it doesn't.Some questions...1.) Did this start happening from the first time you installed Windows 7 or sometime after the fact?1a.) If it was after the fact, do you recall what you were doing prior to it starting this rebooting behavior?2.) When it reboots - does it simply reset itself or does it go through a shut down procedure first?3.) Did you by any chance play around with any of the group policy or any of the security settings?

Seems that you have already a problem " it will restart in about 50 seconds if I don't login to a profile" and now you have 2 problems " it keeps restarting and won't alow me to do anything during the process, except forcing to turn it off"There is a system failuer and if you are not able to login in save mode and fix the system by removing last updates, change some hardware drivers installed by windows it self then i suggest that you put the Windows 7 installation disk in the drive and boot from there to repair the whole system or to upgrade the whole system again.

I would recommend doing a system restore and see if that fixes the problem as an update to some software may have caused you computer to become unstable. To err is human to really foul things up it takes a computer.

Hi, Does the issue can be resolved by using System Restore. For troubleshooting similar issues, you can refer to the following Windows Vista Knowledge Base article: The update is not installed successfully, you receive a message, and the computer restarts when you try to install an update in Windows Vista Hope it helps.
