Resolved--Error when adding a Canon networked printer
When trying to add a printer from a new Win 7 enterprise x64 pc, I receive the following error when trying to add a Canon printer from a Win server 2008 R2 print server (Windows cannot connect to the printer. Operation failed with error 0x0000007e). I am able to add various other model printers that are on the same print server. After reviewing various forums on this issue, I found a hotfix from Microsoft-- http://support.microsoft.com/kb/982728/en-us , however when this is run, I get an error stating this update is not applicable to your computer. I don't understand as this hotfix pages references my pc OS as applicable. How can I resolve this print issue as we are preparing to deply over 150 new Win 7 pc's and will need this printer loaded? Resolved by deleting a folder called Copyfiles. This folder is in the registry on the print server for the printer that was giving the error. Tested on multiple pc's and the pc's we initiially had the issue on. the printer in registry, there was a folder called Copyfiles. If we delete this from the printserver registry, we are able to connect the printers without any problems. (registry > Local Machine > system > controlset001 > print > printers > (printername) > Copyfiles )

Thank you for posting that solution! One update though, there was a missing part (the capitalized entry in the path below) in the registry path at least in Windows 2003: registry > Local Machine > system > controlset001 > CONTROL > print > printers > (printername) > Copyfiles
