Resettnig IE registry settings
Hi, I have a user in our domain who's having troubles reaching one of our intranet sites from her computer. It works fine in another browser on the same computer, when she's on another computer or with another user logged in on her computer, but with Internet Explorer she gets "Unauthorized". So I tried to reset her IE settings with all checkboxes - didn't help. Tried to uninstall IE and reinstall it (with the reboots in between) - didn't help. And since she could get to the site and log in from another computer or browser, I figured it'd probably be some registry settings hiding somewhere that weren't effected by the setting-resets and reinstall of IE, so I even removed her local computer profile.. to no avail. So again I believe there still are some registry settings that aren't changed the way I want them to. Any idea which settings, or which settings that are safe to remove/change to test? The site is added to her local intranet trusted sites, and they seem to still be there after all these reinstalls/removal of profile/setting reset etc (but I've manually removed those now), which sort of makes me suspect the registry even more. /Thomas

drop a bomb on all Internet Explorer keys. search for that key in exact match delete whatever you encounter. then restart IE, If you encounter persistent keys use The Avenger V2 to remove them. Restart your IE.

She might have a stored password that is wrong. Try opening Control Panel -> User Accounts -> Manage your credentials and see if the webpage or another resource on the same server is listed. If so she can either edit or delete it.

This issue can be caused by corrupt certificates. I suggest you clear the cache of the certificates in IE. Please: 1. Launch IE, click Tools->Internet Options. 2. Click the Content tab. 3. Click the button “Clear the SSL state”. 4. If it does not work, click the button “Certificates”. 5. Remove all certificates list in the “Personal” tab. If the issue still occurs please open Event Viewer and see if there is any events related to certificate failure. Thanks for all the replies. I solved it by simply being brutal and exported my own IE registry settings and imported them on hers. Got a warning that all of them couldnt be imported since some were in use, but it seems plenty of them got in. She didn't really have any settings above the default settings made, so she hasn't really been affected much by reinstalling and fiddling with the registry. I also had to go through and correct some of my settings that wouldn't be so good on her computer, like to not put files in MY user folder for example. A reboot after that and it was fine again.
