Replacing hard disk
Hi. I am using a HP pavilion sleekbook with windows 8 in it and I want to change the hard disk because I need more space. I was wondering if it will affect my pre installed copy of windows 8 and if it does how can i keep my original copy once I have changed the hard disk.

Tyikki,

If you change out your current hard drive for a larger capacity drive, youll need to do a fresh install of Windows 8 on the new drive.

Keep in mind that if you have the OEM reinstallation media from HP, you can perform this installation without needing to obtain a new activation key.  However, if youre performing the install with non-OEM installation media, you will need to obtain a new activation key.

Hope this helps.

Instead of change it, I suggest buy external HDD if you need more space

I you insist to change, you need recovery CD from HP, but its depend on availability and some of country its not free

You cant transfer your activation key because its OEM

Contact HP support for better suggestion if you really want to replace it
