Repeated Admin Account Lock Outs
I have Windows & Professional installed on a Alienware Desktop. Several days ago the admin account was locked out though there was not know stimulus for it. The next day I was able to log in with the admin account and immediate;y created a second admin account so that I can unlock the first, if I locked again. It did lock again later that day and the second admin account was locked as well. Strange? Yes, but my standard user account was not locked. I tried changing the name of the first admin account and though it took in the user management interface, the new name for the admin account was not recognized when I tried to log into the system with it but the previous name was. Stranger yet, today, all three accounts are locked, my two admin accounts and my standard user account. The installation of Windows & is on a raid0 configured drive, which I can not imagine being an issue, but I am looking for some sage assistance here. Thanks in advance.

Hi, Windows 7 should not lock administrator account itself, usually it locks when you input incorrect password too many times. Please go to start\all programs\administrative tools\local security policy\account policies\account lockout policy, check if you have set any policy to lockout account, Furthermore, I suggest to perform a whole disk scan to check if any virus or spyware in your PC. Also remove third party tools for test. Thank you for responding. I agreed that the admin account should not be locked out. We are at a lost to way it happened. The accounts that were affected (eventually all of them) were working properly and became locked for not apparent reason. First log in attempt, they were locked. We explored the possibly that a vulnerability scanner might be running brute force attacks but the system is in what we call a "build DMZ" with no incoming access to the box from outside the DMZ so that was not an issue. The system is pristine in that other than package updates, it has not internet activity, no e-mail setup on it, and had HIPS with MCAfee installed. We did review the account policies but nothing strange was seen. We gave up was completed rebuilt the system and we have not yet had a recurrence but we have not started to apply out required security settings yet or HIPS.
