Renaming a Network Connection...
Hi all; I use Windows 7 Enterprise. As you can see in the following figure, I just have one Network Connection, named: Local Area Connection 2: http://cid-3a822dbb941c4298.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/Public/NC1.GIF I want to rename it to just "Local Area Connection". But the following error message appears: http://cid-3a822dbb941c4298.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/Public/NC2.GIF If you see the following figure, I executed the ipconfig command and the result only shows one network connection: http://cid-3a822dbb941c4298.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/Public/NC3.GIF Any idea? Thanks

Hello, I just figured it out. Go to regedit: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/ Then go all the way down to "Network" Expand that and look in and expand: the folder {4D3... Make sure to select the one that is 4D3 (note the capital "D") Go through each number folder under the 4D3... folder and look in "Connection" If it says Local Area Connection 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, etc. Delete the folder that contains the multiple and various names Local Area Conection 1, 2,3, 4, etc. Do NOT delete any folder that does not contain the names local area connection. After deleting, you reboot windows. Go to control panel and then device manager. Re-update your LAN adapter drivers or re-install them. The system will now re-install and start to label your Lan adapters connections as local area connection and local area connection 2 Hope that helps.
