Removing Windows 7 Power Plan
I'm trying to remove a power plan created during the initial setup of a Dell Optiplex 380 workstation. The plan was not part of a group policy but rather just created on the machine. I selected one of the built in plans and deleted the custom
plan on the workstation but the custom plan keeps coming back. Also tried changing the settings and it seems to be getting original settings from somewhere and replacing what I put in. I tried deleting it from the registry but was denied.
The machine is part of a domain, I have admin rights and there were no group policies set up to define power plans. Any idea how to get rid of this thing?

Have you tried this
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Change-create-or-delete-a-power-plan-scheme ?
If you set the power plan by GPO, then LSDOU applies and the GPO for organization unit wins (unless some kind of filtering is used)

Milos,
Yes, tried and actually deleted it and/or changed it several times but it keeps coming back. Was not set up by GPO.
Thanks

Hi,
I suggest using command to delete Built-in Power Plans.
1. Click start -> type cmd in the search box -> in the list, right click cmd and select run as administrator.
2. In the elevated command prompt window, type:
powercfg list
(You will see Power Scheme GUID and corresponding name, please record the GUID)
powercfg -delete <GUID>
(Modify the GUID you want to delete)Niki Han
