Remove user permission from executable but allow one particular user access.
This is a standalone machine operating system Windows 7. My goal is to restrict users from running an executable file but allow only one or two users access. I simply open security of that executable file and remove the User group but make sure the System and Administrators are added. My next goal is to allow one particular user to execute the executable file so I created a user account for that user and added her to the administrators group. But to my chagrin the user was not allowed to run the executable. Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks

Have you tried right clicking the executable, and selecting "run as administrator"?Mike Oke MCTS, MCITP (Windows 7)

After removing the users account from the .exe and logging on as administrator I can run the .exe. When I add one specific user to the Administrator group and try to run the program with that user its a no go. "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. The solution to this problem? An elegant procedure provided by Mictosoft called Parental Control. I got the answer from the Roxio forum. David Leacock
