Hi Guys, We have an issue were we have some Windows 7 running on it. We need to access an old System that doesn't support IE9 or any other bowser except IE8, IE7 or even IE6. Is there a way to uninstall IE9 or even install IE8 Along side IE9?

you can go to control panel there you can program and updates click on ie 9 and click on unistall hope this helpspratik

Hi, Internet Explorer 8 is a built-in feature of Windows 7. Therefore, once you uninstall Internet Explorer 9, the Internet Explorer will roll back to 8. However, if Internet Explorer 9 is pre-installed on Windows 7, it cannot be uninstalled. That's horrible news. I have web pages built on front page that don't work properly on IE9. I have a new computer that was apparently preloaded with IE9. The only other possible solution for me is to upgrade to Professional Windows and then install server extensions, but I guess the public still wouldn't see the page properly as they migrate to IE9 +. I guess it's time to learn a new web page building application or outsource my work.

If you're using Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate, you can install Windows Virtual PC with XP Mode (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/) so to have a 32 bit Windows XP Professional SP3 where you can use an older Internet Explorer version. Yes, I saw that. I currently have premium so I have to upgrade to professional in order to download the Windows Virtual PC with XP Mode. The upgrade through Microsoft store is $199. Not what I was hoping to hear. Thanks

Hi Wayne, IE8 is a built-in feature in Windows 7. You can turn it on or off from Windows Features. You don't need to download it. Best Regards, LS.

Hi LS, Actually, not so...once IE9 has been installed through Windows Updates (or Microsoft Updates as the case may be), after one uninstalls IE9, the only version of IE available in the 'Turn Windows Features On or Off' control panel is IE9. Wayniak… Follow these steps: Go to Start, Control Panel, Programs Click on View installed updates under Programs and Features section Scroll down the list in the Microsoft Windows section and find Windows Internet Explorer 9 Select this item and click on Uninstall When prompted to confirm click on Yes Restart your computer OEM installs of Windows 7 Pro I have seen have some with both IE 8 and IE9. In both cases, the OEM install usually comes with updates, hot fixes, service packs, etc. installed just like you and me would do in their factory image. They are in a little bit different place… but they are there! You will have to run setup wizard for IE 8 when you openthe browser back up the first time. And I did have to do this twice on one machine but it did work successfully the second time around. You do have to remember now, when you run Windows Updates the next time, to make sure you mark the update Click on Tools on the menu bar and select Windows Update (You may have to activate the menu bar or type Windows Update from the Start button) Click on Check for updates on the left When updates are ready click on the XX important updates are available in the center of the screen Uncheck Windows Internet Explorer 9 for Windows 7 Right click on Windows Internet Explorer 9 for Windows 7 and select Hide update Click on OK That should do the trick! This has worked perfectly for me each time I have come across the issue. Good luck!!

Thanks Cannonwill! It would help if I read your directives more carefully. The tricky part for me was that the option to turn the feature on or off is not the same as uninstalling it from the 'Installed Updates'. Once I did that, it rolled back to IE8. I still think Microsoft should make the download available for IE8 for Windows 7. That way users that got a later model of Win7 with IE9 preinstalled could turn off IE9 and install IE8. I don't like IE9 at all...it has created numerous problems for my end-users. I've been rolling them back (where possible) or switching them to Firefox. Hi same Problem here, new PC with IE9 pre installed so unable to wind back to IE8, anyway problem solved (thanks to Microsoft) Microsoft "Fix it 50778" removes preinstalled ie9 and installs IE8 automatically.
