Remote desktop to win7 stop working since 2 weeks ago
Hi all, Remote desktop has been work fine for me for long time. My config is very simple, win7 ultimate to win7 ultimate. But recently, it has been very problematic. Initially I could mstsc to my office machine, often after many attampts. Lately, if I make more than 3 attampts, my office machine will go offline, and could not be pinged. When I go to my office to check on the machine, I could not find any problem. If I reboot the machine, it is pingable again. As an interesting comparison, I have another office machine runs windows 2008 R2, remote desktop works with no problem. I have all the latest Windows update on both machines, including win7 sp1, so I think it is unlikely the it is because some security patch mispatch. Anyone has any idea how to fix this? Thanks Ying

Hi, The issue could be domain networking issue or incorrect settings on your Office computers. If possible, try connecting to another windows 7 machine to check the results or try mstsc on another time. On the problematic computer, make sure it won't sleep or hibernate after a period of time. Update the network adapter driver for it. Disable any Security software or firewall temporarily. Also, in system properties, Remote Desktop session, select Allow connections from computers running any version of Remote Desktop (less secure) In addition, since the issue involved domain environment, please also confirm the issue with Server side.
