Remote desktop screen window blackens after a period of inactivity
Hi, I would like to ask one question on remote desktop. I have no problem connecting to client machine. The only problem is that the RDP window went black after a certain amount of time (around 10 minutes, perhaps), and can be immediately reactivated simply with a mouse click. Though a minor problem, this sometimes causes distraction. I suspect that there might be some setting such as "screen saving" or "power saving" which automatically turns off the screen after a period of inactivity. Is there any way to disable that? Should I disable that on the client machine, or it is a setting with my own machine? Thanks, Bob

Hi, Based on my research, the screen saver's setting does not affect the remote desktop. So I assume that it may be caused by the 3rd party software. Please boot in Clean Boot to determine whether the 3rd party cause this. To narrow down possible cause, you could try to connect from you desktop to another host and see if the is occurs again. If the it does, the issue could be either on your desktop or your layer3 device you go through. In that case it could be an mtu issue, and you might need to lower the mtu size on your end since packets need to be defragmented. Please go through the steps outlined at the following link to test the mtu and let us know how it goes: http://help.expedient.com/broadband/mtu_ping_test.shtmlVincenzo MCTS, MCTIP Server 2008 | MCTS Exchange 2010 | WatchGuard Firewall Security Professional
