Remote desktop - missing configuration
Hi I am having problems setting up remote desktop on mu Windows 7 Pro SP1 PC. It worked a few weeks back but recently has stopped. I've noticed that I am no longer able to configure it off the "Remote" tab in "System Properties" - the bottom panel titled "Remote Desktop" is missing, instead I now only have the "Remote Assistance" panel. I've checked other PCs in the office and this appears to only be affecting me. I've also ensured that there is no group policy affecting remote desktop in force. I have also done the following but with no luck: Switched windows firewall off Added myself to the Remote Users group "Remote Desktop Services", "Remote Desktop Configuration Manager" and "Remote Desktop Services UserMode Port Redirector" are all switched on in services Does anyone else have any advice as to where else I may need to look to configure Remote Desktop? Many thanks Carl

Hi Carl, I would like to verify if you want to configure remote desktop guest or host? Does the Remote Desktop application work? Can other computer remote to this one. If not, what error is received? Go to verify if C:\Windows\System32\mstsc.exe exists. If the file is missing, try to run system file checker to repair the missing files. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833 If the file exists, try to enable built-in administrator account to check the result. Click Start -> Right click computer -> Manage -> Local Users and Groups -> users -> enable Administrator account. Or create a new user account to check the result.
