Remote assistance and Symmetric NAT Routers
Hi, I am trying to offer Remote Assistance between to Win7 computers. Remote Assistance works fine when the computers are using the same router in the same room, but when several hundred kilometres apart, it won't connect. I used the Microsoft Router Checker to test my router and it advised that my router has Symmetric NAT. Could anyone please tell me if this is stopping the Remote Assistance and if there is a work around. Many thanks

Your idea is based on wrong assumptions. You cannot compare router with NAT. There is one workaround, namely the port forwarding to tested computer. This configuration on on the NAT/router/FW side. Address this problem to support forum of NAT/router/FW vendor. Problem is not on the W 7 side. Regards Milos
