Remote Desktop only one way?

This is pis sing me off. It shouldn't be this difficult.

I have a Windows 8 computer that I want to remote into from a Win7 box. It's only on a local network. When I'm on a Win7 box and try to connect to the Win8, I get the dreaded "Remote Desktop can't connect to the remote computer for one of these reasons: bla bla bla. I do not get the logging window. Yes, I enabled remote desktop on the Win8. When I go to the Win8 and try to access the Win7, I get the login window. I checked both firewall settings and they are good.

Summary: Win8 can remote into Win7. Win7 cannot remote into Win8. I do not get the pop-up window when trying to remote into Win8, only the message of, "Remote Desktop can't connect to the remote computer for one of these reasons: 1) Remote access to the server is not enabled 2) The remote computer is turned off 3) The remote computer is not available on the network.

I was looking online for the same problem. While I was researching the problem, I found out that the ping wasn't working either, and I found this article:

For how to enable ping. That made my remote desktop connection work.
