Remote Desktop on VISTA Suddenly Broken
Suddenly I can no longer log on to this computer (VISTA Home Premium). It's been working for years. In that time it broke a couple of times, but a few reboots and it was back up. Not this time. I'm trying to log on with either Win XP Pro or Remote Desktop for Windows Mobile. I've tried system restore; disabling Windows Firewall; Antivirus; Windows Defender; Safe Mode; etc. Nothing works. Been going on for several days now. I can use the VISTA computer and successfully log on to my home XP Pro as usual. I cannot ping the VISTA computer from the XP computer. Get time out. LinkSys router has usual ports open. No hardware changes. Auto Windows VISTA updates have been applied (but again, System Restore did not help). Losing my mind and would appreciate any guidance.

PS: I cannot log on using pcAnywhere either.

Hi, Thank you for posting! What is the exact error or symptom when logging on the Windows Vista remotely? Will the problematic computer boot up locally? Please make sure you have obtianed the latest windows update and the latest driver for the network adapter. Keep the port 3389 open. If it is within internal network, make sure it is mapped to port 3389 from router. Regards, Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
