Remote Desktop keeps re-checking itself, how to fix?
I have an emachines W3644, 1.37gb of ram, Windows XP Pro OS. My computer is having a few issues, and I want to know how to fix them... When I go to Control Panel, and click System and then click on the Remote tab under Remote Desktop there's a box that says "Allow users to connect remotely to this computer" I uncheck the box, click apply, then click OK. The setting stays the same while I'm logged in.... but I log out then back in.... the box is re-checked. Also if I restart the box is re-checked. This computer is not networked or any of that.... also under Windows Firewall I have noticed that when I go under the Exceptions tab... Remote Desktop is an exception, the box to the left of it is checked.... I have tried un-checking it... but it changes itself back to checked when I log back in, or restart. A few more setting are changing themselves back... when I go to Control Panel, then click on Folder Options, then click on the View tab, there's a spot that says "Hidden files and folders" I want them to be showing... so I click "show hidden files and folders" then I click apply, then ok. But upon restart... it changes itself to hide them. Also there is a setting that says "hide protected operating system files" I want them hidden.... so I check the box, and click apply, then ok. But again, that setting changes itself to show them when I log back in or restart. When I go to my computer there's an icon that says "Web Folders" when I double click on it there's nothing in it. Also for the Remote Desktop thing... when I click "Selecte remote users" there's no one listed or anything. So I'm wondering why these settings keep changing themselves? I've ran many online scanners that detect malware and all that, I've also ran many programs like spybot, malwarebytes', XoftSpySE, SUPERAntiSpyware Professional.... but none of them have detected anything. The only thing I can think of is I had a technician from Symantec connect to my computer using a program called LogMeIn.... I've had this remote desktop issue before, and I got it fixed, and it didn't change its setting for 3 days, but now it just keeps re-checking itself.... someone please help me? Thank you.1 person needs an answerI do too
