Remote Desktop in Win7 Ultimate 64 - Cannot connect
Recently upgraded to a new Dell 8100 PC running Win7, but cannot make a RDP connection to my work PC. I can RDP to my Windows Home Server on my local home network. No other settings (router, firewall, etc.) have changed. In fact, I can open WindowsXP mode in Win7 Ultimate and make RDP connections just fine. It has got to be a Win7-specific setting or configuration item. Also, I am using Juniper VPN to make the initial connection to the business network first. Any help would be greatly appreciated....Thanks. I have tried: Allow remote connections, etc. have been enabled. nodename and IP address turned off Norton AntiVirus and Windows 7 firewall Bypassed my router and set internet device (AT&T 2wire) to pass everything (port 3389, etc.)

Are you able to ping the work PC?

No I cannot. But I also cannot ping it from the WindowsXP Mode of Virtual PC even though I can RDP. I would assume the firewall/VPN policy does not respond to ping requests.

Hi, Is there any error message when Remote Desktop cannot connect to the work PC? To troubleshoot the issue, please refer to the following steps. 1. Assure the user account is allowed to connect the Work PC via Remote Desktop. 2. Temporarily turn off firewall on the Work PC and run a Ping to Windows 7 for a test. 3. Restart the Windows 7 machine in Safe Mode with Networking and run Remote Desktop again. If there is any error, please post it here for research. Thanks, Novak

New but same conversation: I have a work desktop that I am trying to reach from a laptop on the local wireless intranet or vpn . I have tried from various remote locations on our intranet so I strongly believe it is my desktop. I can ping my desktop from my laptop. The account is AD and is allowed in my RDP group. My coworkers can all access their desktops via this method. I have done the above mentioned: 1. I would appreciate any help or advice on how to resolve this. Best Regards, Michael
