Remote Desktop disconnects after starting VPN on remote PC

I am connecting to a work PC on my local network via Remote Desktop.  I then start a VPN session on that work PC to connect to my intranet.  Once that is connected, my Remote Desktop session ends and the work PC is no longer visible on my local network (can't even ping the IP address).  The Work PC can still see resources on the local network, but PCs on the local network cannot see it.

I have tried adding my local router as the default gateway for the VPN connection but still no success.  This setup was working when the work PC was running Windows 7 but after upgrading to Windows 8.1, I can no longer access it from PCs/devices on my local network.

The VPN is established using Juniper Network Connect. My local subnet is 192.168.1.x and my work subnet is 10.44.1.x

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

According to my experience, this problem can be caused by Juniper compatibility with Windows 8.1. Please check your Juniper application edition. Then contact Juniper to verifying this problem.

On the other hand, you can refer to the thread below for more details about Juniper compatibility problem with Windows 8.1.
