Remote Desktop Printer Properties and Device Settings
I have been searching for information on this for a while now and have not been able to find a solution to this problem. Here is the situation. I have a Windows 7 Professional x64 system in one location. (remote) I have several Win 7/XP machines in another location, that are using Remote Desktop to access the files and applications on the Windows 7 system above. Printers on the local systems are redirecting and working fine, however 1 of the printers here is using department codes. The option is configured through the printer properties of the driver. (Device Settings tab) I have the department ID's turned on on both the remote system and the local systems, yet the redirected printer this setting is disabled. I am also unable to change the setting on the redirected printer in the remote session because it is greyed out. Assuming that this is related to permissions, I have been searching for days now on how to change this so that the redirected printers can have their settings changed to allow the department codes to be set. The user on the remote system we are logging in as has full administrative priveledges, as well as the user on the local system. Is this indeed a permissions issue as I am thinking, or is this caused by something else? How can I configure either the remote system or the client system to allow the changing of these settings on the redirected printers? Thanks in advance for your assistance, I hope to hear back from you soon.

This issue is related to printer drivers. The driver may not support printing redirection on Windows 7 client. Since other printers works properly, it is not related to the Windows systems. You may consider to create an IPP printer as workaround.
