Remote Desktop Mobile to Vista Home Premium
I have Vista(64) Home Premium on my PC, and I am using a Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2 (WM 6.1/6.5) I was able (through much work and luck) to set up my PC to allow Moblie RDP connection from my Windows Phone. I can RDP from the phone to my desktop using either WIFI, or the Sprint Data Network. Everything seems to be working EXCEPT the following: If I select (on Mobile) to "Play on remote computer" I am able launch an audio file (or whatever) from the phone and hear the sound on the remote PC - Great! BUT, if I select "Play on this device" the speaker icon in my system tray is X'd out (no sound device available) and no sound is played on the device. If I try to launch an audio file I get a "audio switcher::out" error. From what I've seen, this looks like its either a problem with the audio driver, or a Terminal Services or Group Policy setting-- The only problem is that Vista doesnt have gpedit.msc or a terminal services manager! Please let me know if anyone has seen this issue, or knows a solution. Thanks, Dave

Hi, The device from "Play on this device" refers to Mobile. If it is true, windows may not be able to detect compatible audio driver on the Mobile. Contact the Mobile manufacture for further information. Hi Magon, I was able to RDP from the Mobile to my laptop running Visa Business 32 Bit, and the device was able to bring the sound from the laptop to the device... Any reason why this would work with Vista Business 32 Bit and not with Vista Home Premium 64 Bit?

there might be a functional limitation of Vista premium that manifests such symptoms but first i suggest you compare the RDP settings in the Business pc and the premium PCTunde Abagun MCP,MCSA,MCTS,MCITP en p "for the love of Computers"

Hi, You can't remote to a Windows Vista Home or Home Premium PC with Remote Desktop. This is a limitation set by Microsoft. You need Vista Business, Enterprise, or Ultimate to be able to remote to it using Remote Desktop. I thought that Remote Desktop Host is supported on all versions of Vista, but only Business and Ultimate contain the RDP support to Remote into other machines. Either way, I can confirm that I am able to RDP to/from my Vista Home Premium machine and my Vista Business machine on my home network using mstsc /v:Hostname
