Remote Desktop Connection not working after IP changed from staic -> dynamic

I have a machine running Windows Server 2003 r2, it's installed with Microsoft ISA Service 2006 to make the machine works as firewall to my server, the firewall machine name is Medusa.

Before this, I am able to remote access from outside(Internet) to Medusa which I had static IP provided by my ISP. Due to some reason, I cancelled the static IP service and using dynamic IP now. Since then, I am not able to connect from Internet to Medusa anymore.

The error message I got while connecting through Internet is Error 807. I looked to list of error codes and it gives me:

Error 807 : "The network connection between your computer and the VPN server was interrupted. This can be caused by a problem in the VPN transmission and is commonly the result of internet latency or simply that your VPN server has reached capacity. Please try to reconnect to the VPN server. If this problem persists, contact the VPN administrator and analyze quality of network connectivity."

I think the main cause of this is because of switching from static IP to dynamic IP. I tried to look for the option to choose whether to use static or dynamic IP in ISA but I didn't see it. So, my idea is to do port forwarding in the router connected to Medusa ? However, I am not sure.

Can anyone provides me some helps or direction please ?

Thanks in advance for the suggestion and help given. I appreciate it a lots.

Hi,

Thank you for the post.

It is recommend to use static ip address for your VPN server. And when the vpn client trying to connect vpn server, is it use name space or ip address? if using name space, does it work?
