Remote Desktop Connection issues
Hello, I am using Win 7 Remote Desktop and seeing these things: 1. It does not remember username and passwords even when I specify it to 2. if I am not in full screen, it is not easy to move the window around. a. If I have the window full size (ie, if it's 1280x1024 and that is the size of the window), when I start to drag it, it is no longer full size, it is much smaller with scroll bars. b. If I try to double click the window title bar to go back to the window's full size, it does that but it moves the window back to the original location. c. If when the window is smaller w/ scroll bars as a result of moving, if I try to manually resize window to make bigger, it moves the window on the screen in a way that I cannot actually make full size. How come it behaves like this? Is this a "feature"? If so, strange feature. Are there plans for a fix for this? Thanks, dan

FWIW I see much the same things on my Windows 7 Ultimate laptop when I use Remote Desktop to access my WHS or my wife's XP Pro desktop.MS-MVP Windows Desktop Experience, "When all else fails, read the instructions"

Hi,To answer your questions:1. Generally, we can configure Remote Desktop Connection to save your credencial and automatically log on to a remote computer without typing password. For more detail, please refer to Automatically log on to a remote computerand Saving and changing logon credential in Remote Desktop Connection. However, this feature depends on the policies of your network or the configuration of the computer that you're connecting to, you might still be asked to type your password, even though you've completed the steps above.2. We can configure screen size by changing Remote Desktop settings or using command line. BTW, we can also save the settings as RDP file and open it in notepad for manually modification. However, based on test for your requriments. I'd like to forward your concern to our DEV team. Hope this helps. Dale

LOL Dale,As soon as you said you would forward this to the DEV team I no longer see the resizing issue on my Win7 Ultimate RDC client. Your good...FWIW, I never had an issue with user credentials only the resizing issue...MS-MVP Windows Desktop Experience, "When all else fails, read the instructions"

Hi Al Jarvi,Firstly, glad to see that you're out of this problem. BTW,in my opinion, I prefer not only providing customer with help information but also reforwarding any customer's voice to our DEV team so as to help the developing team make a better product to meet customers'needs. If you have any concern, please feel free to let me know and I'd like to hear your voice too. Best Regards.Dale

Dale, The issues are still persisting and really affecting my productivity if I cannot move RDC screens around AND not always have to enter usernames and passwords. Yes I know about all the settings, they don't work. Is there a feedback site I can enter these bugs? I would like to include some screen shots which strangely these forums have no attachment functionality. Or can you give me an email I can send you the screen shots to? thanks, dan

Hi Dan,You can post your screenshot by taking the following steps:1. Log on SkyDrive (www.skydrive.live.com ) with your own Windows Live ID.2. Select the Public folder or create a new folder shared with everyone. 3. Drag pictures to the folder and upload.4. Expand the picture to the full image and copy the whole image. Paste the picture directly on TechNet Forum.Best RegardsDale

Dale, sorry for late reply, I got busy. I took some screen caps and uploaded here: http://cid-37942722586f3a60.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/.Public/091013RDC.zip the names of the images should be descriptive. 1-2 show how saved credentials don't work. basically what I would think would happen is that in #4 (and how it behaved in Win XP/Vista), it would stay maximized when I dragged. And then, in #5, when I maximize, it should maximize where the window is, NOT go back to the upper left hand corner. This behavior makes it difficult to have many remote desktop connections open and to switch between them easily. thanks,,

Hello, did you get a chance to see the screenshots? Any reason why it behaves like this? thanks, dan

I have a win7 Ultimate 64bit running in a domain on my network. It doesn't want to use saved credentials either--for rdp or for connecting to a Web site. My list of saved credentials is accurate, and I choose to save them at each login. Ignored. Definitely a bug--even if a setting needs changing--it shouldn't silently ignore expected behaviour. Either the Save Credentials box should be grayed out or it should work. Works on my XP Pro workstations on the network.
