Remote Desktop Connection Protocol Error
I just setup my PC with Windows 7 RC Build 7100 (32-bit).I can RDP into out servers with no problems. However, when I go to remote controla user through TerminalSerivces, their session will load for a split second and then I get this error message:" "Because of a protocol error, this session will be disconnected. Please try connecting to the remote computer again." I'm trying to remote control sessions hosted on Axel terminals and windows xp client pc's, I have also tried as suggested replacing the MSTSC.exe and mstcax.dll files from windows vista without success, Is this a Windows 7 bug? I have also noted that this bug affects Windows 7 Pro. Any Help would be appreciated Kind Regards Martin

That doesn't really answer my question, i have a screenshot of the error but can't find a way to attach this, Martin This appears to be a bug - http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winserverTS/thread/87fc497a-27fd-4a76-ab59-ea5fe01c9091/ Other people are having the same issue as me!

I've got this working finally!!! For anyone who's interested, this is what I did.Find a windows XP machine. Copy onto a USB pen drive (or something like that:mstsc.exemstscax.dllthen create a subfolder called en-US and copy into itmstsc.exe.muimstscax.dll.muiNow copy these files onto your windows 7 machine. It doesn't matter where, so long as the en-US folder you've created follows it.go into the properties of mstsc.exe and set the compatability options to windows xpsp3 and run as administratorNow double click on mstsc. I've just tried remote controlling a user and it worked.I'm now off to change my file associations to point at this older version of mstsc.exe

Can anyone tell me if I need the 64 bit version of mstsc.exe.mui etc to place in my Windows 7 64 bit folders? I used this fix on an older Win 7 32 bit fine but I have no 64 bit Vista files to copy :-(

I tried this, but I still get the same error. I copied the files from a 32bit XP machine to my 64bit 7 machine, should I try to find 64bit files instead?
