Remote Desktop Connection Fails - Error 0x204 or 0x207

I'm using the Microsoft RDP app for android, trying to connect to a Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit.  I've enabled require network authentication.  I have McAfee Internet Security, and the firewall is configured to allow RDP connections on port 3389.  With the firewall ON, I get Error 0x204.  With the firewall OFF, I get Error 0x207, although the first time I was prompted with an unknown certificate warning before RDP tried to authenticate.  I switched from using a specific username/password to Ask Every time.  After that the 0x207 error popped up.

Ideas?

Is network authentication requirement? I believe if you disable it will connect to your desktop.

Hi,

In addition to what has been suggested by Slava Fedenko, please disable McAfee Internet Security for good measure. We should troubleshoot this step by step. These error code could occurs for various reasons. You need to confirm that you have smooth network between your android device and your Windows computer. Make sure that remote desktop has been enabled on your workstation, and you need to configure your router to forward the remote desktop port (3389 by default) to the correct computer on your network if your remote session are through internet.

Unchecked the Network authentication option but connection still refused while my firewall is enabled.  I confirmed the ports and protocols setting on the fw is set to allow TCPIP and UDP on 3389.

It does appear unchecking the above setting fixed the issue of the ox207 error with the fw turned off.  I did connect OK that way, but this isn't a viable solution.

See response above - also, I confirmed my router isn't doing any port or services blocking.  I'm only connecting from another device on my local network at this point.  Once I get that working I'll test access from the Internet after properly configuring my router.
