Remote Desktop Connection - Common Algorithm
Hi I'm stuck for ideas. I'm trying to connect a windows 7 pro machine to another windows 7 pro machine....simple? It has been for several computers, but for one I get an authentication error. "An authentication error has occured. The client and server cannot communicate, because they do not possess a common algorithm. Remote computer: xx.xx.xxx.xxx" Anyone come across this before? Any help appreciated. Thanks, Tim

Hi Tim, On the problematic computer, make sure you have configured remote desktop correctly. You can refer to the following article. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Connect-to-another-computer-using-Remote-Desktop-Connection I suggest disabling security software, performing clean boot to check the result. Also modify the following registry. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurityProviders\SCHANNEL Right click SCHANNEL, export to desktop as backup. Then rename it as SCHANNELold Best Regards, Niki Please remember to click "Mark as Answer" on the post that helps you, and to click "Unmark as Answer" if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
