Hi I'm stuck for ideas. I'm trying to connect a windows 7 pro machine to another windows 7 pro machine....simple? It has been for several computers, but for one I get an authentication error. "An authentication error has occured. The client and server cannot communicate, because they do not possess a common algorithm. Remote computer: xx.xx.xxx.xxx" Anyone come across this before? Hi Tim, On the problematic computer, make sure you have configured remote desktop correctly. Also modify the following registry. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurityProviders\SCHANNEL Right click SCHANNEL, export to desktop as backup.
