Why can't a client computer running Windows XP Pro have remote acces to a host computer running Windows XP Pro? Why does the client computer have to have a different OS?1 person got this answerI do too

You can setup a remote desktop connection between 2 computer running Windows XP Professional. Doing this on the same LAN network should not be a problem but accessing a desktop on another network might require some additional rules. The link below might be of some help. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsXp/using/mobility/getstarted/Remoteintro.mspxTo access a desktop outside of your home network you might need to forward ports or use a VPN - Virtual Private Network connection to get access to the remote network. Windows Remote Desktop uses the TCP port 3389 by default.
