Remote Connection Fails SSL Explorer
I have a Win7 Laptop that I'm trying to use to connect to our server through RDP in SSL Explorer. Funny thing is that it works on my admin account on the laptop, but doesn't work from any other account (including the user who will be using the laptop
and my coworker's admin account). When I try to launch the connection, the port opens, and immediately closes.
I've checked internet options and firewall settings and they match on all accounts. I'm kind of lost as to what else to look for. Help is appreciated. Thanks.Click Start, click Run..., type "cmd" and hit enter, type "work /now"

RDP needs admin access
Not sure that's accurate. We've got this set up on numerous Windows XP machines for numerous users (very few of which are admins) and they
all work.
It just doesn't work on this blasted Win7 machine. My admin profile runs the RDP connection just fine. My coworker's profile does not run it. His profile is also an admin profile, so he does have admin access.
These two things would imply that RDP does not require admin access. If that was the case, it would not work on the XP machines where most of the users do not have admin privileges, and my coworker's profile would work on the Win7 machine.Click Start, click Run..., type "cmd" and hit enter, type "work /now"

Lot of security changes with Windows 7, the old ways do not cut it anymore.
Try configuring the user profile from scratch and see if that can get the account working

I know. I just wish MS would quit messing with stuff that isn't broken....

The user profile was configured from scratch.

A really old one in need of upgrading/replacing. :P Windows 2000, but that shouldn't matter, because it works perfectly fine from my user profile.Click Start, click Run..., type "cmd" and hit enter, type "work /now"

Yes, I understand that.
However, the connection works for my profile but not another admin profile or the user who will be using the laptop. I need to know how to make it work. If it works under one profile, it should work for them all...Click Start, click Run..., type "cmd" and hit enter, type "work /now"

This is definitely a nuisance when one account works and another does not with admin for both.
are you using a domain?

Yes. The laptop is currently connected to our domain. It will
not be (directly) connected to the domain when it is in the hands of the user, but will be set up as though it were. All domain interaction is done through SSL Explorer. If that makes sense. The user will, however, be connecting to
the server on the domain. This is the connection that isn't working.

That makes two of us.......
I've tried all I can think of. It does work if I go through XP mode, but I really don't want to do it that way if it can be avoided...Click Start, click Run..., type "cmd" and hit enter, type "work /now"

XP mode is helpful for a range of legacy applications
One of the problems is using the old Windows 2000 machine
So use the Virtual route

The other thing that baffles me is that I am able to use Remote Desktop from the laptop (not using SSL Explorer) to connect to the server. Why would it work directly from the laptop and not through SSL??Click Start, click Run..., type "cmd" and hit enter, type "work /now"

Another interesting tidbit I just discovered:
I set up test connections to my computer that I use for my everyday work. This computer is running XP SP3, fully updated, also connected to the domain. I set up a VNC connection and an RDP connection.
The RDP connection still refuses to work.
But, the VNC connection does work! (In fact I am writing this reply through that connection :P)
So why on earth does the VNC connection work when the RDP connection does not?!

Just thought I'd share the real solution to this problem:
Open Remote Desktop Connection Expand the options by clicking the 'Options >>' button Go to Advanced tab Change the server authentication drop down to "Connect and don't warn me"
If it is set to "Warn me" you will get a popup before connecting. There is a checkbox on the popup that says "Don't warn me for connections to this computer" and a button that says "Connect" but apparently, clicking the checkbox, and then clicking
"Connect" is not the same as "Connect and don't warn me" ....... Click Start, click Run..., type "cmd" and hit enter, type "work /now"
