Remote Assistance window does not open
Hello, I am running windows Vista Ultimate. Whenever I accept remote assistance requests from xp machines through windows messenger from any computer (5 different computers at different houses) the RA window does not open. I have made sure that port 3389 is forwarded on my routerand I have turned off my firewall but nothing. Basically I get the request, I click accept, and then nothing happens on either end. I have also tried connecting through a file, but it says that Remote Assistance cannot make the connection. I have made connections to all of these computers before, and have made no major changes to my computer since then. Any ideas? Edit: If it helps, If I request assistance from them they can connect right to me and view my computer, but not the other way around.

Hi Kabobulate, Please install Remote Desktop Connection 6.0 for Windows XP machines, and try to use Remote Assistance through FILE to check the result. For your convenience, Ive listed the link for downloading Remote Desktop Connection 6.0: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=26f11f0c-0d18-4306-abcf-d4f18c8f5df9&DisplayLang=en If the issue persists, please let me know the exact wording of the error message when attempting to establish the Remote Assistance session. In addition, if possible, please try to use Remote Assistance locally (do not connect through a Router) to check the result. Hope this help.
