Remote Assistance - Win7 to XP - Errors and unexpected behaviour.
Hi folks. I am attempting to get unsolicted remote assistance working from Windows 7 to Windows XP in an domain environment. Win 7 to Win 7 works just fine. Using msra /offerra <ipaddress> makes a connection to another machine and the user is prompted to let me have access. If he accepts, then I can view his screen whislt he is still logged on, and we can chat using the chat pane. All fine. Win 7 to Win XP SP3 is not working so well: When I connect to the WinXP box using the same command msra /offerra <ipaddress>, I get connected and I have the username/password screen as if I am doing a Remote Desktop. If I log in, then screen locks for the other person as if I HAVE done a remote desktop. I have full control at this point, even though the viewing window still says "waiting for acceptance" at the bottom. After 30 seconds or so, I get kicked off with the message that "nobody accepted the offer of remote assistance. Make sure the user is still at the computer". So there are a few issues here: I should not get the username/password (gina) screen to log in. I should not gain full control of the screen immediately after logging in. The logged on user should not be "kicked out" and his screen locked. A message should appear to the user asking if he would like me to assist, but does not. Can anyone help? I have disabled the firewall in XP to ensure that is not interfering. Remote Desktop is enabled, and so is Remote Assistance. I have also set the AllowTSConnections = 1 in the registry. I am a member of the Administrators group. Thanks.

Bump. A basic installation of Windows XP - Domain Joined and receiving the RA GPo - works perfectly. Our custom image of Windows XP - Domain Joined and receiving the RA GPo - does not work correctly. I know that's a tall order to ask for help on - there is something within our image that is causing the Remote Assistance to NOT ask the client user if he wants his PC controlled. At the moment I'm uninstalling items and retrying.... Any ideas would be appreciated.
