Remote Assistance
Hi, I currently unable to get RA working within a Workgroup environment. Clients are all W7P and fully service packed and patched. For test purposes one is 32bit the other 64bit. They are on the same subnet. I have seen various suggestions which I have tried without success. My question is should RA work within a Workgroup environment. Thanks.

Hi, Not really. When I connect and the associate has a UAC pop-up I am unable to enter my details. I am aware that the UAC can be redirected to the remote connection via GPO, however we are in workgroup and I have looked but it does not appear to be an option. I do not want to have to add myself to the local admin group, and I don't believe that this will resolve the issue in this workgroup scenario as I an connecting from another PC, unless the credentials are passed through?

Hi Dean, If you're looking for a much simpler solution for conducting remote assistance try out Mikogo. It is a quick download and works in an instant, and will allow you to switch presenter back-and-forth between you and the person on the other end (you can have as many as 25 participants, but from the sound of your situation you won't need that many). There's a free version available for download at so give it a go. If you have any questions please feel free to get in touch. Thanks! Spencer Dunfee
