Remote Access with WebEx PCNow, using Windows 7 & IE8
The program downloads and lets me sign in but when I click on the computer I wish to sign into the popup box for the PC password never shows up?I have checked the popup blocker setting and all other restrictive settings I can think of.

What are the systems of the remote computer and the current computer? Can you access the remote computer from another computer with different operation system? Maybe the program is not compatible with Windows 7 or IE8. I suggest you set to run the program as administrator with Windows XP SP3 or Windows Vista SP2 compatible mode if the remote computer is a Windows Vista or Windows 7 computer. If the issue still occurs, please temporary disable the anti-virus and firewall on the remote computer.Arthur Xie - MSFT

Same issue here. Tried with new installs for Window 7 32 and 64 systems. Worked fine in Vista and XP, never get a log-in in Win 7. The PCNOW client is a browser plug-in so I don't know how you would run that as an admin. pcnow is a "trusted" site, pop-up blocker is turned off.John

I have the same issue using Windows 7 and IE 8. I contacted WebEx support and they tell me they don't offer Win7 support yet. I don't believe their technology supports Windows 7 computers, but that's just my opinion. If anyone else has solved this issue, I would love to hear. Thanks

I tried every combination of compatibility modes and administrator rights too, but got no where. How on earth can a Cisco owned company not be able to support a new operating system three months after its release?? I've used Webex for years, and Cisco was a big reason I stayed with them, I assumed they had a better chance of sticking around and working well. Now I have to cancel my subscription and find something else because they can't even give a vague timeline of when they might support Windows 7.

I got the e-mail below from WebEx. Cancelled my account and switched to LogMeIn (www.logmein.com). I am using the free version on Windows 7 64 bit. Install was without incident. Works great. I am using the free version but will upgrade to LogMeIn Pro if I need the additional features. Hope this helps. Hello Mike, Thank you for choosing WebEx. I understand that you are unable to install PCNow on Windows 7 OS. WebEx PCNow is currently not compatible with Windows 7 OS, hence you could not connect or install PCNow on computers that are running Windows 7 OS. Windows 7 support is not available for PCNow service as of now since based on market share, majority of users are still using Windows Vista or XP, as their preferred Operating System. We at Cisco-WebEx value our customer's feedback and this will be considered as we plan to incorporate Windows 7 support to our PCNow Remote Access product in future based on how many of our current user base who are actually looking forward to using Windows 7 with PCNow Remote Access. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you and as we plan to incorporate Windows 7 support, we hope you will continue with Cisco-WebEx PCNow as your preferred remote access client. WebEx engineering team is currently working to make PCNow compatible with Windows 7 OS but it will take some more time for us to identify and fix the issues we come across. Once the support is available we will inform you through Email communication and also update the WebEx site. Thank you for your understanding and co-operation. Regards, Kathy, WebEx Technical Support.

Hey WebEx:I understand the company line here that based on market share you are not supporting Windows 7 (yet). However, problem was reported in October, it's February and should be fixed by now. I feel compelled to point out that Windows 7 isn't some obscure OS. Windows 7 is Microsoft's current operating system and the primary OS being delivered on new systems. This means that anyone replacing their PC/or laptop (my case) can not use your product to access there systems remotely. I am on the road today and I cannot access my work or home system from my laptop. <venting>I am a long-time user. I was a Beta user when you first offered PCNow and have paid monthly for your service ever since. I can only assume that your development group is carrying out some vendetta against Microsoft at the expense of your customers. - this issue isn't making me mad at Microsoft ... </venting> John

I have found a solution but am as upset as the rest of you with the stock response we are getting from pcNow folks. If they could get their product working with Vista, if they put any time into it, they should get it working with Windows 7. Almost all computers ship with Windows 7 now. We have converted already in our company. If they don't support Windows 7 because of their current subscribers, do they not want to grow? Given how slow they are to respond to this new operating system, and the fact they refuse to give a phone number to contact them, even if you are paying to use their service, I'm wondering if they really do want to grow or are they waiting to pull out of the market? In any event, the solution I found, which won't work for all, is to run pcNow in a virtual XP machine under Windows 7 Pro. If you have Windows 7 Pro, one of the benefits you have is the ability to run XP as a virtual computer. It works REALLY great. And you don't have to buy a copy of Windows XP to have it. You get Windows XP when you download and install the XP Virtual Machine software from Microsoft. If I need to remotely access one of my computers, I run the Virtual XP machine run IE8, pcNow, and I can log onto any of my machines just fine. Since I don't need to access my notebook (which has Windows 7) from other machines, I haven't had to figure out how this system might work as a host. I have used this same solution to run a VPN from Sonic Wall that wouldn't load under Windows 7.I realize my solution isn't the same as the vendor just getting their product to work, and it only works if you have Windows 7 Pro, but it might help some of you I hope.

Thanks, So much for your reply. i found this helpful to other questions I had about running XP programs in a virtual Os atmosphere. I have been told that the Windows 7 Pro virtual OS only works on computers with operating systoms that allow virtual OS on them. Been told about 1/2 of processers do. Some cheap do and Some expsensive don't. So this fix only works for some.
