Remote Access to Windows 7 stopped working
I could not find similar situation in the forums. Hope someone can help. I installed Winodws 7 Enterprise as a guest on VMWare Workstation. Network connection (using VMWare's terms) is bridged. When I am using VMWare's console (as if I would be sitting at the machine physically), Windows works perfect - connect local network and internet withount any issues. But the problem is with remote access via Remote Desktop. I enabled remote access, added users to remote access group and admin group. Moreover, i was able to connect the machine using Remote Desktop from another PC on the same network. It worked perfect for the whole day. After I came back from weeked it stopped working in a weird way: when I try to connect via RDP, I see Windows 7 remote login screen (the one that shows available users), but when I try to login, I am getting a message that "The user name or password is incorrect". I do know that user ID/password exists and correct because I still can login when I am the machine. We had the same problem before with VISTA, but at that time I did not have access to the machine console and though that the password and actually changed. Now I am sure that user ID and password is correct. I tried to start/ stop Windows Firewall with no success. BTW: the day it was working, Windows Firewall was on... Anyone familiar with the situation? Also for some reason I cannot ping the machine from time to time (end up with timeout). Then it comes back for a while. Thank you.

As your original Win7 works fine on your VMware before, you can try system to fix your issue. If you don't have the restore point, you can try to add another account in the remote access group, and try to remote with the IP address again. I hope this can help you. John

Hi Greg,First, you can try system restore if you can. In addition, you can disable the Remote Desktop settings, to do this, you just need to dot "Don't allow connections to this computer". Now, all your remote account would be removed, then you can choose "Allow connections from computers running any ersion of Remote Desktop (less secure)", then add account you would like to remote this Win7. Good luck! John
