Remote Access through VPN XP computer to Win 7 Computer
Hi we have recently updated some of our computers to Windows 7 at the office. When I use a laptop with XP I am unable to log into a computer with Win 7 via the romote desk top via the VPN. An error comes up that says "error in communicating with Server!"Is there some kind of security setting on Win 7 or can you not log in to a Win 7 computer with one that is running XP?Thanks!

Which version of Win7, some do not have the ability to host an rdp connection. They have the client side but not the host side. I believe you need Pro or Ultimate

Hi JCM007, According to the error message, the issue should be caused by the VPN server or your Windows XP computer. I would like to confirm the following questions first: 1. The accurate issue is that the VPN Connection cannot be connected or the Remote Desktop Connection cannot be connected? 2. Do your colleagues have the same issue? I would like to suggest you disable the antivirus program and create a new VPN Connection in the Windows XP computer to check the issue. Whats the result?Arthur Li - MSFT
