Reliability Monitor
Hi, Have just upgraded to Windows 8.1 Pro from Windows 8, all seems fine except for the Reliability Monitor which worked fine before upgrade but now will only now display Application failures, graph updates OK on an hourly basis but does not now show any Warnings or Information data like updates, RAC is enabled in Task Scheduler and State data files are updated hourly but nothing changes in Published Data, any help please.

Hi Bjsman,

We can take the following steps to delete the current Reliability Monitor data files to have a check.
1. Click Start and type the following text into the Start Search text area %ProgramData%\Microsoft\RAC
2. Click RAC from the results list
3. Double-click the PublishedData folder and select and delete all the files in that folder
4. Click the Back arrow to
5. Double-click the StateData folder and select and delete all the files in that folder
6. Close the Windows Explorer window
Note: Deleting these files will require the Reliability Monitor to reset the database. Resetting requires that Reliability Monitor gather 24 hours of data before calculating the System Stability Index or generating the System Stability Report.

If the issue persists, we can create a new account and login with it to have a check.

Best regards

Hi MeipoXu,

Thanks for your advice, have already been through that process without success, problem is that it does not appear to reset the Reliability Monitor even after reboot, graph still shows the same.                                           Bit more info that might be significant, within an hour all the 7 files in State data are re established and being updated hourly but the Published data folder remains empty, Task scheduler history shows the RacTask completes successfully each time.

 Hi again MeipoXu,

Just one other thing, in a limited way the Reliability Monitor appears to be working, it shows all application failures,  for example One Drive stopped working today which it recorded and there have been a few others during the past few weeks, but that is all it records, nothing else.

Hi Bjsman,

Have you checked this registry key?

In Registry Editor, set the value of the following registry entry to 1:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Reliability Analysis\WMI\WMIEnable

Collecting the data may be a little slow, we can wait for a while to have a check.

We also can try to logon with another account or create a new account to have a check.

Hi MeipoXu,

Thanks again, have already checked registry key and also logged on using another account but no difference, seems to me that as the Reliability Monitor is recording and displaying some events (Windows Application failures), it is working to some extent but for some reason is not able to access the miscellaneous info like updates etc. as it used to.

Hi Bjsman,

We can run "dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth" to check the health of the system files. We may need to wait for a while then have a check of the symptom.

Hi MeipoXu.

Again many thanks for advice, little bit confused about results, before I ran /restorehealth command I ran /scanhealth which gave the following results - No component store corruption was detected The operation completed successfully.

I then ran restorehealth command with the following result - The restore operation completed successfully The component store corruption was repaired, having since run this again with the same result I can only assume that this is the normal report for a successful operation.

Hi MeipoXu

Just to update you, been away for a week, just booted up PC and everything now seems to be working fine, all data going back to the date when the problem first occurred is now displayed, not sure which of your suggestions did the trick but very many thanks for all your advise.
