Reinstall Access driver?
I don't have Office installed on my machine (can't afford it). I was given an Access 2000 d/b file that I have to open and copy some data into a SQL Server Compact 3.5 d/b. I'm trying to setup (never did this before either) an ODBC Datasource so that I can open the Access file using OpenOffice. I just need to see the data so I can copy it into the newer d/b. But I get an error stating: "The setup routines for the Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb) ODBC driver could not be found. Please reinstall the driver." So I downloaded the Microsoft Access Database Engine but that still didn't fix it. I'm running Windows 7 64 bit. However there were some updates from MS that installed some Office parts on my system. These include Office 2007 SP 2, Office Access Database engine 2007, Shared Setup Metadata MUI, Sharepoint Designer 2007, Office Visual Web Developer 2007, etc. I got this laptop secondhand so it's possible the person that had it before me might have had Office 2007 installed. Should I just uninstall all of those other Office updates? Is there someplace I can download the appropriate drivers for Access without having to uninstall stuff? Am I missing something? I'm not a database person and just need to copy/paste the records. I'll be using the SQL Server Management Studio Express to input the data into the SQL Compact 3.5 d/b. The Access database is password protected. Thanks for any and all help that you can give. It is much appreciated.

I also have an access database i need to open to import to another database. Is there a library or runtime that can allow the program to open the DB? It is being moved to a windows 7 enterprize 64 bit machine. I have other win7 64bit that allow them to open. Is it because MS office is installed on the machine? Thanks for any insight.

You are in the WRONG forum. This a Windows 7 Operating System forum, not an MS Office forum.
