I have a GPO which i have set for only Vista machines in 2003 GPO..I do have a custom registry key which enables the link state setting in the registry, so that when you elevate say Notepad, you can still access mapped drive letters..I suspect this custom setting, is for some reason, hosing up any computer config gpo settings.. i have older gpo settings which i have recently changed in the gpo (ie: windows update server location).. they have not changed when i run the gpupdate /force command.. still old values..If i do rsop.msc, the computer configuration has an exclaimation mark and the error in the subject is in the the error information tab under "registry".If i look in event viewer, system.. i see "the processing of group policy failed because of an internal system error".. eventid 1125 and this code below..Any thoughts on how to fix this ?Log Name: SystemSource: Microsoft-Windows-GroupPolicyDate: 10/27/2008 10:19:32 AMEvent ID: 1125Task Category: NoneLevel: ErrorKeywords: User: SYSTEMComputer: vpc-x86vista01.domain.localDescription:The processing of Group Policy failed because of an internal system error. I think i got this into this policy via a custom admx template i created.. not sure why it would cause an issue.. ie: the windows update policy doesnt seem to override its old value for the update server.. both policies show "applied"

Hi, Please first check if the GPO is linked to the OU that contains the computers correctly. If it links properly, please check if the OU has sub OUs, and the policies for the sub OUs conflict with the new GPO. Also check if the OU has parent OUs and the parent OU force the OU to apply the GPO settings of the parent OUs. If the issue still occurs when all settings are proper, please run Group Policy Result Wizard in GPMC in the server, and try to find clues from the result. Also you may run "gpresult z > %userprofile%\desktop\gpresult.txt" in command prompt in one of the problematic domain member computer, and open the result "gpresult.txt" on Desktop, try to find some clues.
