Reformat encrypted USB stick?
Hello, a few months I used bitlocker to encrypt a usb stick to bring some files from work to home. It's been awhile and I can't for the life of me remember the password. I don't need access to anything on the USB stick any more, so I just want to re-use it, but the option to format the stick is not available. Is there some way to just wipe the disk so I can use it again? I'd hate to throw it away... Thanks anyone who can help! -pat

You should be able to use diskpart to command line remove the partition and then recreate it. Diskpart list disk (you should be able to spot your USB stick by the size, take note of the number listed against it) select disk x (where x is the number from the previous step) clean create partition primary select partition 1 active format fs=ntfs quick exit You should be able to select the drive and repartition it via the disk management also. :P Advice offered, If you need more help it is advised to seek the council and advice of paid professionals. Thanks Jason... that worked perfectly. Only difference is that the format command gave me a warning about bitlocker and I had to reissue the command with an "override" flag.
