Redundant folders created in root of C drive
I run Windows 7 Professional 64bit
Redundant folders are created in the root of my C drive all the time,
folder names look like:
09b0508d0bd2dbd70523
56f51b81c1462bb378009ee4d5ed03
02afe4378371907aca40ab
Each of these folders then contain another subfolder called "Sandbox"
This Sandbox folder is empty
How do I stop the creation of these folders?
Other people had something similar happen but with vdm files created in the redundant folders, apparently caused by MS Security Essentials, I don't have Security Essentials installed.

Hi,
Thanks for the post!
Those folders are mostly created by many update utilities, as a temporary locations for storing files. If your computer just work fine, you can manually delete them.

I am also having these Folders created on all PCs and Servers in my estate and although deleting them causes no problems, I don't really want them being created there in the first place. Users are now taking it upon themselves to delete these folders
but as there are so many - up to 50 on some machines, they are accidentally deleting folders they wanted to keep.... Yes they should have been more careful however so should the person that decided these should go on the root of the OS drive. In some cases,
clients cannot delete from their C drive due to lock down in force on their PCs.
Could someone please tell me, is there any way of changing the location for these folders to a temp folder (where they probably should have been created in the first place!)? Or to get them to delete themselves automatically.
This is a very recent addition to our estate and will be making every effort to trace it.
