We are trying to do a redirect of a subdirectory.

ex:  https://company-name.com/abc to https://company.com/abc

The company has dropped the -name from the url but customers have this book marked.  Is this possible?

I suggest you to create publish rule to publish your website. You can define internal FQDN and External FQDN. ISA/TMG can help you to redirect between two URL.
