Hi there, I have been using Windows 7 Ultimate x64 edition (OEM version of Win7 Pro x64 shipped with HP TM2 1002TX upgraded to VL Ulitimate edition) for almost 5-6 months now. IE is my default browser. I am using it constantly throughout the day and close IE and launch it when I need it several times a day. Still, for some reason IE never shows up on 'recently used programs' in Start Menu. I have tried turning off 'Show recently used program' and turning it back on but doesn't help. I have also verified that other programs do show up or disappear if their usage increases/decreases respectively. I have even tried upgrading IE8 to IE9 (Beta) but that didn't help either (which seems to be expected that its Win7's responsibility to identify MRU programs instead of app's). As such its not a big deal but it drives me nuts thinking about the fact that IE keeps evading that list. I don't want to pin IE to Start Menu because I want to find out the cause of this behaviour. I have looked at LastVisitedPIDMRU (which seems to be the MRU list which should be used but its surprising that despite that fact that first item '0' is iexplore.exe's HEX dump it doesn't show up!) I do not know how to fix the issue that you have but why don't you just add the IE shortcut to your quicklaunch bar?
