Recent crashing problems in windows 7
Explorer, among other things was very retarded, lol. It first happened when I opened my downloads folder, EVERYTHING froze, including explorer, google chrome, task manager, etc... I deleted the downloads folder (yes and I am sure i can go without for a while too :\) Everything worked fine, until I got to my personal folder. Crashed upon right clicking. (By crashing i mean freezing/staying locked. After that, no I did not delete this folder, it is too awesome and it would delete every subfolder, so instead what I did is not manually shut down, but I deleted files/folders using command prompt and some command lines with the recently helpful "help" command. After experiencing more problems and problems with deleting in the command prompt, I decided this was 75% (most likely) a virus. So I took an alternative approach, I used 7-zip and went in there and deleted crap like the dumps, cookies folder, my documents (800 meg - holy crap) and a bunch of random uneccesary files, plus ALL .exe files in the main folder AFTER EXPERIENCING MORE FREEZES, I deleted my personal favorite game of all time, Total Annihilation, from my hard drive. (Path C:\cavedog) Along with that, I did a scan on the Windows directory, went offline on my network, ran a few scans with security essentials, and now Im doing OK, regardless if I am on edge. Note that before i posted this I did a google search and all, wasn't satisfied, and even tho I seemingly fixed the problem, I want to know: Is this commonly known and if so what is the problem? I just want my old computer performance and awesomeness back :\ If it helps it is a Toshiba Satellite 2 gig ram 1.6 ghz vision amd processor ATI graphics card. i forgot to mention: after a while it happened with ALL windows, lol. But another thing i noticed is that (well two things): A) Command prompt did not freeze, which is leet. :3 b) in task manager when it froze, i looked at the explorer process (processes page - it froze on another window leaving that wierdo impression thing when it doesnt respond) and it said that it was taking up like 60000k memory and like 76-100% of my cpu (it fluctuated between 45000k-65000k and 75-100% cpu when it actually was responding - maybe 30 seconds before the crash.) Thanks, Flashbang232 PS: I posted it here because I would also like to know, is it virus related? Security essentials picked up a couple threats earlier today.

The issue should not be caused by the folder. The Download folder is a build in components of your user profile. This issue can be caused by several reasons. 1. The folder may be corrupt. 2. The hard drive has logical mistake. 3. Conflictions from third party programs and services, especially antivirus. Since the issue does not occur after you delete the folder, you do not need to do anything else. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
