Reboot Breaks Windows 7 Routing Table
Greetings all, Two Windows 7 Pro workstations on my domain network are suddenly unable to connect to to WAN network resources. All other machines on my network are fine, regardless of OS. I traced the problem to something bizzare happening to the routing tables every time they start up. A ROUTE PRINT will show something like this in the top two spots: Network Destination Netmask Gateway Interface Metric 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 On-Link 192.168.1.5 20 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 192.168.1.1 192.168.1.5 10 (There are some other routes, but they all have higher metrics.) I've tried various methods of correcting the problem. The easiest seems to be to delete the default route (eg: ROUTE DELETE 0.0.0.0), which removes these two entries. If I then do an IPCONFIG /RENEW and then print the routing table again, the only route for 0.0.0.0 becomes: Network Destination Netmask Gateway Interface Metric 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 192.168.1.1 192.168.1.5 10 And networking is fine again, until you reboot, then the routing table goes back to its uncooperative state. Any suggestions?

Hi, This behavior may be caused by the 3rd party software, for instance, the anti-virus and firewall software or the 3rd party network tools. Please boot the computer in Safe Mode with network to check whether the issue still happen. Also, check the TCP/IP advanced setting. Networking does work properly in safe mode. I've tried changing "automatic metric" in TCP/IP advanced to "5", but the problem persists. I've also tried resetting TCP/IP with: netsh int ip reset Still no luck. The only programs I have installed recently are Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 and Java 6. I have trouble understanding how either of these could be mucking up the system's routing table.

It's the Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 package, it also installed Apple's Bonjour service. Disable Bonjour and delete its folder in the Program Files (or Program Files (x86)) folder.
