Re-issue of Product Key after HD is wiped.
Now that we're faced with the fact that the keys available to us have been dramatically reduced, I am hopeful that we will be able to get keys re-issued for OS/Apps that have been removed/uninstalled. Is anyone aware of how one could go about getting “replacement” product keys? Thanks yellowpike

Do you refer to MAK Keys? Or what is your issue?"A programmer is just a tool which converts caffeine into code" CLIP- Stellvertreter http://www.winvistaside.de/

Sorry Andre: I'm referring to the Product Activation Keys as applied to my TechNet subscription. When I bought the license I had up to 10 activation keys for (example) Windows XP Pro. Shortly after I paid, Microsoft changed that to but 2 activation keys. While I understand they were within their rights to do so (and there’s not much I can do about it) I am hoping that there is a way I can get “credit” for an activation that is no longer in service. I hope that is better stated (?) Again my apology yellowpike BTW... what would be the caffeine to code ratio? lol

Hi, Thanks for posting in Microsoft TechNet forums. I understand that you want to replace product key to another new PC. You can move it as long as original pc is no longer in use. Also you can contact Microsoft Activation Center for confirm: http://www.microsoft.com/india/licensing/resources/vol/numbers.mspx These similar threads maybe helpful to youL http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7install/thread/54af1c6c-5ac2-4c34-a05b-094ee6634767 http://en.kioskea.net/forum/affich-94267-product-key-usage-more-than-once http://forums.windowsforum.org/index.php?showtopic=42722 Please Note: Since the website is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice. Some of us are freshly aware that it may just be a matter of semantics. Does your Technet subscription provide Volume License keys? walleye

I don't know what "replacement" product keys might be. But if it's about the re-use of already downloaded keys, you can do that. "Q. What will happen if I’ve already downloaded more product keys than the newly established key limits? Will those key still work? A. Yes. Product keys in excess of the new key limits that were downloaded prior to the new key limits going into effect will continue to work. Note in the event of piracy detection Microsoft reserves the right to cancel un-activated product keys at any time." (from the TechNet subscriptions page)"192 GB ought to be enough for anybody." (from the miniseries "Next Generation's Jokes")

The number of multi-activation keys provided by Technet subscriptions was reduced, unannounced. It has caused some confusion and distress, as discussed in the thread I linked above. There is a reference to you there, Sanmartin. The final post there contains this link.

Bungho...as to the above formula...Einstein is laughing, Newton is crying, but Heisenberg isn't certain. I think it's BRILLIANT !!! Thank You. yellowpike
