Random connection drops
Hello all, We have have a total of 30 plus users connected to our network via a member domain controller. The local domain controller is a Dell PowerEdge T610 running Windows 2008 R2 the latest drivers and firmware. The DC instance is running via a Hyper-V guest. The DC is also running DHCP and DNS. The site is one of 8 jobsites we have connected via VPN. Of the 30 users six are running Windows 7 x64, the issue they're having is random connection drops thoughout the day. The timing of the drops is sporadic across these six users, but when it occurs Outlook 2007 will show offline and/or password needed, the network drives will show an X through them and attempts to save open files will say the network is not available. A moment later, all will be fine again and a close re-open of Outlook re-establishes the Outlook/Exchange connection. I have turned off power management on the NIC, checked drivers, ensured all power management features on the desktops are OFF, plus disabled IPv6. The users are all connected directly to the Dell switch and the Windows XP users in the same location are not having any of these issues. I'm running out of possibilities to resolve the issue, any thoughts or suggestions? Thank you.

Hi, Thanks for posting in Microsoft TechNet Forum. Please check if there are any clues in Event Viewer. Meanwhile, please refer to the following article to check to see if it could help you: Mapped Drive Connection to Network Share May Be Lost If this issue persists, I suggest you create a registry value to check the result: To configure the EnableLinkedConnections registry value, follow these steps: 1. Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER. 2. Locate and then right-click the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System 3. Point to New, and then click DWORD Value. 4. Type EnableLinkedConnections, and then press ENTER. 5. Right-click EnableLinkedConnections, and then click Modify. 6. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK. 7. Exit Registry Editor, and then restart the computer. Hope it helps. Alex Zhao TechNet Subscriber Support in forum.
