Random Loss of Internet...
Hi, I hope someone can be of use to me here because i'm perplexed by a problem I have! I've recently re-installed windows, all is well apart from one annoying problem with my internet connection. After about 20mins of browsing I lose my internet to the browser, the computer still displays that it is connected to the wireless (i have tried wired too), I get no error messages, Other computers have no problem connecting and using the internet so i have ruled out a problem with the router - nevertheless i've tried turning it on and off to no avail. I have also tried disabling then re-enabling the network connections - no luck, I have also tried 'repair connection' but windows returns a message saying there is no problem. It seemed to me that it may be a firewall problem but i've tried disabling the firewall and also installing a different one (after uninstalling the old one) but that doesn't work either. I've disabled the anti-virus but no joy with that either. One possible symptom is that I have noticed that the process of the browser I use doesn't terminate (iexplore.exe, firefox.exe and opera.exe) - I have tried ProceXP and the TASKKILL /f command but neither of them will touch it. The only thing that fixes the problem is an annoying re-boot which takes ages as the computer attempts to close the processes. Something seems to be blocking the browser from using the connection but I am clueless as to what it is or what tool may help me find out. Hope to hear from someone soon, Cheers D.
