Random BSOD: IRQL_ something
So everything seems to have been going fine since my HDD change a month or so ago (where my previous HDD had failed, kept giving errors). The new HDD seems to be doing great. However, today out of no where... I get a BSOD error. I believe I was viewing a website just before it happened. I didn't catch the entire error, was busy trying to get something to write on and it disappeared, what I did catch was something alone the lines of: IRQL_something_soemthign Any ideas? I believe two days ago I upgraded my video driver to the latest beta released by NVIDIA for the 8800 GTs. p.s so far it has happened only once but I doubt it will stay that way

Hi AMailerThe error was probably IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL which is normally associated with mis-behaving hardware drivers or low level software such as, anti-virus or backup software. Here is the technical description:Bug Check 0xA: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/ms793589.aspxTo properlytroubleshoot a blue screen error requires that debugging be performed on the error dump file that is generated. Unfortunately, we cannot perform debugging in the context of this forum.Sometimes, you can see the name of the mis-behaving driver on the blue screen. It will usually be in the form of a file name, such as xxx.sys. You can then search the system for this file and see which hardware device it is associated with. You can change your settings on the system to allow the blue screen to stay visible until you dismiss it by pressing the power button. This will allow you take notes from the screen.Open Control Panel and select All Control Panel Items.Double click System. In the Task Pane, select Advanced System Settings. In the Startup and Recovery section, click the Settings button. In the System Failure section, remove the check mark from the Automatically Restart option.Since we are close to the next build of the beta being available, you might want to wait and perform an upgrade from Vista or a clean install to see if this resolves the problemHope this helps.Thank You for testing Windows 7 Beta Ronnie Vernon MVP

Hey Ronnie, Thanks for the reply. I believe that in fact is the error unfortunately I did not catch the name of the file that might be causing it that time. It hasn't happened again though, however I still made the changes so it does not automatically restart. Lets see.
