RUNAS icon doesn't work on WIN7
Hi, I have an icon on the desktop which I can't make work. The thing is that this icon needs to be run with another username, and so this is the shortcut: %windir%\system32\runas.exe /user:domain/xxx /savecred "C:\Archivos de programa\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" Any idea? It worked fine on XP! Also, I have been reading a lot on the matter that the desktop does not refresh automatically... But can't find the solution to this issue. Any news on this matter? thanks for your help!

I have tried what you say and no luck: %windir%\system32\runas.exe /user:DOMAIN\USER "C:\Archivos de programa\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" The old one worked fine on XP. Thanks!

Disable the protected mode from the IE and try again. The IE tries to run in LowIL (protected mode) to get better security. Why do you want to run IE under other user credentials? "A programmer is just a tool which converts caffeine into code" CLIP- Stellvertreter http://www.winvistaside.de/

Hi Andre, I've also tried this and no luck. I have disabled the Protected mode for Internet, Local Intranet, Trusted Sites and so on but the process doesn't start up. I'm wondering where is windows Explorer... Local intranet? I need this icon like this because I run it very ofter and eventhough I can execute the runas manually I like it this way... I am currently running it manually and it works fine, it just doesn't work running %windir%\system32\runas.exe /user:DOMAIN\USER "C:\Archivos de programa\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe". Thanks for your help anyway.

Hi, I just discovered the problem. The thing is that Windows in Spanish has a folder named Archivos de programa (program files) and in Windows 7 it maintains the name like this if you open for example My Computer, then the C Drive and you see the folder correctly. I don't know why if you open CMD and go to c: on hte command view the name of the folder is Program Files in English. I have changed Archivos de Programa for Program Files and it works fine now... Thanks for all your help!

the Spanish name comes from the desktop.ini in the program files folder. Internally all folders are in English. Nice to hear, that using the English name fixes it."A programmer is just a tool which converts caffeine into code" CLIP- Stellvertreter http://www.winvistaside.de/
