RSAT tools MMC run time error
I have a surface pro and I have installed the RSAT tools but when I try to open anything like ADUC, sites and services etc I get a MMC runtime error the strange thing that if I open anything else with MMC it works fine.  I have applied all the available updates and I have even reset the pro still getting the same error and I can't find any info on the web except clear the files which did not work so any help would be welcome as I need these tools to do my work

Hi,   Generally, MMC runtime error can be caused by .Net framework components:   Please try to install .Net framework 3.5 to check the results: Installing the .NET Framework 3.5 on Windows 8 http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh506443.aspx   If it doesnt work, please post the event log here for further research.   Hope this could be helpful and look forward to your response.

The event log appears that the MMC crashed on msvcrt.dll.

Regarding current situation, please try to re-registry this dll file and run SFC to check the results:
